Passion is the fuel that drives our visions, dreams and actions. Passion is what keeps you up all night and wakes you very early every morning. Passion is the mental jerk that God has put in place to kick start us. Without passion, you can kiss perseverance, purpose and consistency goodbye. So if passion is this important, who do we manage it?
CAPTURE YOUR PASSIONATE MOMENTS. Don’t get lost in the activity that passion stimulates. Take one minute to capture how you feel right now and right here. Stop for a moment and take it all in. How do you feel in the heat of it all? What are you hearing? What are you seeing? What are you doing? How did you get pumped? How did you wake up in those passionate morning? Do you listen to music? Do you wake up to positive thoughts and words? What are your passionate days like? Why should you do all these? One of the days you are going to wake up with less passion than your high days and it might help to understand how to get your ball rolling. It’s like working from the answer to the question.
WRITE DOWN YOUR DREAMS. In a recent coaching session, I told one of my clients that he needed to write his dreams down, and he asked, “Why?”. The question reminded me of a book title idea I lost because I was too lazy to get out of bed and write it down. Ideas are like birds. You have to capture them or they fly away. It’s that easy. So write down the ideas and thoughts you have in your passionate moments. That might be all the boost you need on a moody day! Read about having your dream book here and here.
RESIST ALL DETRACTORS AND DISTRACTIONS. There are people who seem to have made it a point of duty to drain others of energy and enthusiasm. Run away. Flee if you have to. Get away from people or circumstances that drain your passion. Your passion is for your assignment, why use it for aimless and meaningless endeavors.
HANG AROUND OTHER PASSIONATE PEOPLE. Think how much more your passion could be fired up if you kept a company of equally or more passionate people. It would literally be explosive. So look around you for people who are burning with passion and increase your flame.
The ball is now in your court. It’s time you manage the flame of your passion.
In what other ways can you keep your passion alive?
